Midwest filmmaker Parker Brennon sets his sights on Central Ohio to film his original horror short, “Haunt Me.”
The short film begins shooting August 1, 2016, and follows the protagonist, outsider Angie, on a quest to see a ghost at the Victorian Harrison House bed and breakfast, located in Columbus, Ohio. This seemingly simple premise is not what it seems on the surface and promises to provide a spooky, offbeat take on the horror genre; a genre the Gahanna, Ohio-native is no stranger to.
In October, 2015, the “Haunt Me” screenplay was named a finalist in the Midwest Horror Shorts Film Festival. More recently, in May 2016, Brennon’s other horror short, “Family Jewels,” received a Maverick Award LA Neo Noir Film Festival.
“I grew up with horror movies like ‘Carnival of Souls’ and ‘Let’s Scare Jessica to Death,’” Brennon said. “The subtlety and atmosphere in these films is something that inspires and informs my work.”
Currently, Brennon studies film at Academy of Art University in San Francisco., California, with a focus on writing and producing. “Haunt Me” brings together a team from San Francisco. and Central Ohio to make Brennon’s vision a ‘spooktacular’ reality. The project is launched a campaign Tuesday, June 7, 2016, on the popular crowdfunding website, Kickstarter.com. The campaign will run until July 6, 2016, and boasts rewards from a digital download of the movie to a visit to the set, your name showing up in the film and an executive producer credit.
