A mysterious gentleman, only known as Thomas Theodore Merrylin, was born in 1782 to a rich aristocratic family. He disappeared off the radar, but resurfaced in 1942 when he donated one of his London properties in 1942 to the Tunbridge Orphanage for boys, contingent upon the basement room not ever being opened or touched and the property never sold.

When Merrylin handed over the deeds to the new owner, he was in his forties, and yes the dates wren’t a typo. Given his birth date, he would have been over 160 years old.

This sparked interest from those who who assumed he had long since died. But Merrylin disappeared, leaving not a single shred of evidence of his existence and his estate was also sold off with the proceeds going to charity.

The promise of leaving the basement untouched was kept until the 60s when the property was scheduled for demolition and the basement agreement was forgotten.

The demolition team accidentally stumbled upon the secret basement room which was housed behind two brick walls during checks of the foundation.

In 2006, a trust was set up to analyze a collection of crates that were found in a sealed off basement room in London. Here’s what they found:

The research found with the specimens explains that ”The Vampyr” is:

”an offshoot of Australopithecus, much like our shared distant cousin the Lycanthrope. Both species are symbiotic hominids, carrying transferable Immuno efficiency pathogens – viruses abundant in the blood and saliva that can be transferred to human and non human hosts, where these unique genetic traits are inserted into the DNA of the infected, taking on the characteristics of each species. Homo Vampyrus is a nocturnal hominid with a huge dependency on iron and protein. Francis Gerber, Swiss born Physician, Botanist, Chemist and Naturalist, whose prolific writings focused on the study of the origins of humanity. His own research began around 1776, where he commissioned African poachers to bring him specimens of the great apes, which he dissected in an attempt to construct a detailed inventory of ”terrestrial and arboreal apes and their aesthetic and anatomical similarities to the Homo Sapien.”
